
Raden Adjeng Kartini was born in a noble family on April 21, 1879 in Mayong, Java.
She was an amazing activist for female education in Indonesia, her great achievement was in 1903 when she opened the first indonesia primary school for native girls that did not descriminate on the basis of their social status. The school had a progressive, Western based curriculum. She encouraged female empowerment and enlightenment. Her legacy lives on and Sunday April 21 we celebrate her day.
